Association Executives Meet Professional Speakers In Virtual Cigar PEG Event

The six keynote speakers are shown next to the Cigar PEG logo.

Ed Rigsbee co-founded Cigar PEG — a charitable organization made up of professional speakers — in 1999. Since then Cigar PEG has donated over $700,000 to charity. On February 18th, Showfloor had the pleasure of hosting a speaker showcase highlighting seven Cigar PEG members. Ed played MC to a series of 8-minute sample talks from Cigar PEG speakers specifically picked for their qualification as Certified Virtual Speakers. They spoke for an audience of association executives, attending the event to discover potential talent for their own upcoming events.

With 20+ years of event history, Cigar PEG is no stranger to in-person events, but as Bob Dylan said, (probably about something else…) “the times, they are a-changin’,” and Cigar PEG is embracing that change. Ed wanted a way to bring speakers perfect for virtual events to the attention of association execs looking to fill their event stages with witty, insightful, entertainment. This was a showcase of speakers who were well-equipped to engage audiences using online event technology. What better way to highlight a speaker’s virtual presence than show them off in a virtual event?

The event started on the Showfloor stage. As Ed introduced one speaker after another, it was clear that this group knew how to keep an audience engaged, even when that audience was distributed across the world, and watching through their screens at home.

Attendees were able to sit back and enjoy sample talks from:

  • Joe Curcillo: A Unifying Vision: Tipping the Scales
  • Val Grubb: Influencing without Authority
  • Susan Fitzell, CSP: Neurodiversity: Your Team’s Superpower
  • Richard Melancon: Transform Your Business Post-Covid
  • Lisa Ryan, CSP:  Finding Gratitude in Turbulent Times
  • Elaine Pasqua: Accelerating Business Productivity Through a Diverse Culture
  • And we all enjoyed Dale Irvin, CPAE: Professional Summarizer, working his summarization magic on the other speakers’ content

Once the talks were wrapped up, the speakers and audience made their way over to the expo. Each speaker had a booth that they could use to engage visitors one-on-one or in small groups.

“Showfloor is an excellent partner for running virtual events,” commented Ed. “The team is quick to respond to questions and made getting up and running for our event a breeze.”

We’re glad to see Ed and the Cigar PEG speakers bringing excellent content to virtual events while raising money for charitable giving.
